Fantasy Premier League gameweek two preview: Keep faith in Lukaku

Mohammed Hegazi of West Bromwich Albion scored the highest points (15 points) in gameweek one of the Fantasy Premier League, as Romelu Lukaku gave 49% of FPL managers joy with his brace against West Ham United on his league debut for Manchester United.

The Belgian was joined by Mohammed Salah, Alvaro Morata, Alexandre Lacazette and Hegazi as players who scored on club debuts last week.

So here are useful tips for this coming weekend.

Goalkeepers

If you are considering, swapping your goalkeeper, Tom Heaton (£5.0m) is a good option as Burnley hosts the Baggies this weekend. The Clarets goalie was one of the best FPL goalkeepers last season, keeping clean sheets in most of his team’s home games.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris (£5.5m) is another good buy considering that he kept one of the highest number of clean sheets last term.

Defenders

Most FPL managers that had Gary Cahill in their team for the opening weekend are looking to swap him, as the Blues skipper gets a three match suspension for his straight red card in Chelsea’s humiliating 3-2 defeat to Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Southampton’s full backs Cedric (£5.0m) or Bertrand (£5.5m) are good long term replacements as the Saints have a fair fixture schedule before gameweek six.

Antonio Valencia (£6.5m) would be an excellent high budget defender with United’s defence looking balanced. The Ecuadorian can provide assists and also score.

Midfielders

If you are considering a low/mid budget for a midfielder, Dusan Tadic (£6.5m) of Southampton and Christian Atsu of Newcastle (£5.5m) can be drafted in.

FPL Managers looking towards a solid option in midfield for a long term plan should consider one of Tottenham’s Dele Alli or Christen Eriksen both at (£9.5m). Both men bring in goals and assists on a steady basis.

Strikers

Leicester City face Brighton and Hove Albion in gameweek two and Jamie Vardy (£8.6m) – who scored a brace against Arsenal last Friday, can come to the party once again against the Seagulls.

Although Leicester are faced with games against three teams from the big six between gameweek two and six, FPL managers should keep faith with Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) as he stands out as Manchester United’s sole striker without competition.

Picking Southampton strikers would be a difficult task for FPL managers but whoever gets the nod between Gabbiadini (£7.0m) and Charlie Austin (£6.4m) have a chance of returning vital points due to their easy fixture schedule.

Hope your selections bring you good points. Enjoy the weekend.
