The Fantasy Premier League enters gameweek three this weekend and it promises to be exciting, with the star fixture being the clash between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield.
For the second gameweek in a row, a defender has earned the highest points in the FPL. Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) scored 16 points after scoring a brace against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
Making plans for your team this weekend? These few tips can be useful.
Goalkeepers
Tottenham face Burnley at Wembley and they look likely to keep a clean sheet. Hugo Lloris (£5.5m) is a good option to have in goal as he kept at least 10 clean sheets at home last season.
West Brom’s Ben Foster (£4.5m) can also be considered by FPL managers considering he has kept two clean sheets this season and Stoke City’s defensive style of play is unlikely to threaten an organised Baggies defence.
Defenders
FPL managers looking forward to bring in a mid budget defender can settle for Crystal Palace wingback Patrick van Aanholt (£5.5m). Palace are yet to score a goal this season and if they are to shock Swansea City this weekend, Van Aanholt would be vital as he can provide goals and assists. He has scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in the past two seasons.
Watford defender Miguel Britos (£4.5m) is also a good option considering his aerial threat as the Hornets takes on struggling Brighton and Hove Albion. West Brom’s Craig Dawson (£5.0m) is another aerial threat with the Baggies squaring up against Stoke.
Midfielders
Saido Mane (£9.5m) is Liverpool’s most threatening force going forward. The Senegalese winger has scored in his past two league games and was a constant threat to the Hoffenheim backline in the Champions League qualifiers in midweek. If you are considering a high budget midfielder, the Reds winger is the way to go.
Everton take a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea and Willian (£7.1m) has been the Blues most outstanding player in the past two gameweeks. His eye for goal and creativity would cause trouble for the Toffees and give FPL managers vital points.
Dusan Tadic (£6.5m) would be very crucial for Southampton as they visit Huddersfield Town who are yet to concede a goal and lose a match this season. However, Christian Eriksen (£9.6m) is also a hot prospect after registering three assists in two games of Spurs.
Strikers
Harry Kane has had a bad start to the season with just two FPL points so far. He was unlucky to hit the post against Newcastle United and Chelsea respectively and is yet to score a Premier League goal in August. FPL managers are still encouraged to take the risk and buy Kane as his chances of breaking the jinx against Burnley are high.
West Ham’s Javier Hernandez (£7.1m) is highly tipped to give vital FPL points this weekend when the Hammers face Newcastle United away from home. He scored a brace in the Hammers 3-2 defeat at Southampton earning FPL managers a massive 13 points. The Mexican is very dangerous in the penalty area and even though the East Londoners might not have steady results, it doesn’t stop them from scoring and Chicharito is definitely the man to deliver.
Hope these few tips would help your selection criteria. Enjoy the weekend.
